Location:
Salt Lake City, USA Challenge: Cooling processes in data centres can consume between 11 and 18 million litres of water per day. Between 30 and 40 per cent of the water used in this process is lost. A loss-free cooling system was therefore to be implemented at the Novva Data Centre in Salt Lake City.

Solution:
The waste heat from the data centre’s servers is converted for cooling purposes using a heat exchanger. The closed system, which is filled with a liquid medium, therefore requires no additional water. All the pipework for this innovative and pioneering cooling process was installed using products from aquatherm.

Modern data centres, such as TierPoint in Jacksonville, FL, require reliable cooling systems that operate round the clock. 

Since 2014, TierPoint has been using aquatherm PP pipes, which are characterised by virtually leak-free and corrosion-resistant joints. Thanks to their quick and easy installation and outstanding performance, TierPoint opted for aquatherm once again for a recent expansion. 

The pipes provide long-lasting, low-loss cooling and require less insulation than steel. TierPoint plans to use aquatherm in future projects as well, to ensure the safety and efficiency of its data centres.

Since 2012, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has been using aquatherm PP-R pipes to cool its supercomputers.
